Goodreads synopsis

Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.

Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

Hey guys!

So this is the first new adult book that I have reviewed on Liv The Book Nerd! So let's just get right into the review! Yay!

When I first saw this cover, I thought it was a mermaid or a beach-y themed romance...or even a paranormal romance that involved water. WELL, IT'S NOT SO IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WERE LOOKING FOR YOU WON'T FIND IT IN THIS BOOK.This is a fae/fairy/fairy-hunter paranormal novel. And it is really good! I loved Tink, I loved Ivy, I loved Ren! The characters were so good! Tink was hilarious and obsessed with Harry Potter and Twilight and Amazon Prime and it's like JLA has been watching me and stuck my personality into a tiny, perverted little brownie body! Ivy, now she's not my favorite character but she's so bad*** and funny and she loves her family and she has this sense of duty and she's so cool! Ren, now I love him! He's so tough and loving and perverted but I love him. I totally ship Ren and Ivy, they are really perfect for each other and they work so hard to protect the world.

Things I Loved:
  1. How Ren called Ivy "Merida" when he first met her and he kept referencing Brave when he talked about her hair.
  2. Tink's obsession with Harry Potter and Amazon Prime
  3. The quote:  "We put the secret in Secret Squirrel."
  4. The concept of fae being evil and the humans banding together to take care of the problem.
This book was really great! The reason it got 4 out of 5 stars is because I didn't like the excessive foul language..that's it..I know that seems to be a bit much to take away a whole star, but I don't really enjoy the nasty language. Jennifer L. Armentrout is an amazing writer, and I cannot wait to read more of her work, and I can't wait for Torn to come out.

Until later guys!
