Guest Reviewers

Hey, guys!

As this blog has developed, I have asked a wide array of friends and family to read and review for my blog. I try to get a wide variety of people of different ages to review for me because I want there to be a variety of reading preferences and opinions. Each of my guest reviewers has a different genre an author preference, and each of them enjoys different aspects of the books they read. Their opinions and lovely reviews add a fresh and new perspective to this blog, so thank you to my lovely guest reviewers!

Courtney:

Hi! My name is Courtney! For as long as I can remember, I have loved to read. Growing up, my brother and I would spend time with our aunt during the summer. She would sign us up for the summer reading program at our local library. I would read anything you put in front of me.

When I was a tiny human, Winnie The Pooh books were my favorite (and still are) and as I got older I loved The Boxcar Children, Junie B. Jones, and the Magic Tree House.

I mainly read young adult contemporary, crime novels, and classics. Since I changed my major to English, I have especially enjoyed theoretical texts that focus on medical, feminist, queer theories.

Things you should know about me:

~ Winnie the Pooh is my favorite Disney character
~ I will graduate in May with an English degree and a Business minor. I’m going to take a year off and then hopefully go to graduate school.
~ I love to write.
~ I have a Great Pyrenees dog and a 15-pound cat.
~ Some of my favorite TV shows include Grey’s Anatomy, Dexter, How to Get Away with Murder, Criminal Minds, The Law and Order Franchise, The West Wing, and too many more to list.

Stats:

Favorite (stand-alone) book: As an English Major I have too many but to name two; We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson and My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry by Fredrick Backman
Favorite series: FBI Profiler Series: Lisa Gardner
Favorite author(s): Shirley Jackson, Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte, Lisa Gardner, Fredrick Backman, Jodi Picoult

Things You Should Know About Me:

~I love animals, but especially cats
~ I love to draw, paint, and create. I love to use digital drawing programs and make my own characters.
~ I'm older now and I do not review much for Olivia, but I still love to make up my own stories and characters.

Previous Stats:
Favorite (stand-alone) book: Coraline & Liesel and Po
Favorite series: The Never Girls, The Series of Unfortunate Events, and the Boxcar Children

It's been quite a while since Bee enjoyed writing reviews. They still read when they want to, but their main focus is creating their own art and writing their own story.

Cheryl:

Hi.  My name is Cheryl (but I answer to Mamaw quicker).  I started reading a huge collection of Little Golden Books when I was five years old.  My reading habit never lessened.

Currently, I tend to fill my Kindle with historical fiction, but I love a well-written mystery, as well.  I still like to read dead-tree -books when I can stay home and focus on a good one.

Stats:

Favorite (standalone) book: I truly can't choose my overall favorite book from between Hawaii by James Michener and To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.  Both continue to inspire me to this day.

My Favorite Series: My favorite series would be Harry Potter,

My Favorite Author(s): I think my favorite author changes sporadically. Michener, Dickens, and Ray Keating are among them.

I don't pull punches if an author is lax in the grammar department, but I am more than happy to find the good elements of a book as well when I review.

Julia:

Hey, everyone!

I'm Julia, but most everyone calls me Juju, so you might as do the same! I've always wanted to travel, but there's only so much a broke college student can do. That's where reading started for me. I love seeing all of the different places authors show or even create. The different cultures and traditions are amazing! Can you imagine how many unique ways there are to live the same life? You'll find me mostly reading young adult fiction, but I love fantasy and science fiction!

Things You Should Know About Me:

- I'm a musical theater junkie
- I'm either in my bed or onstage, there is no in-between
- Chocolate can cure anything if you try hard enough

Stats:
Favorite (stand-alone) book: First and Then by Emma Mills
Favorite series: The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer and the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo

Favorite authors: Marissa Meyer, Leigh Bardugo, Cassandra Clare, Heather V. Frederick, Emma Mills
