{Read-A-Thon: Wrap Up} Summer '18 Biannual Bibliothon

Biannual Bibliothon

Hey, guys!

This past week I took part in the Summer 2018 Biannual Bibliothon and I did so well! I cannot believe that I read so much! I read 10 books! Well, 6 books, 3 comics, and a novella; but that counts! I'm super proud of my progress! Not only did I manage to read 7+ books, I managed to make my Goodreads goal 5 months early! I've decided to up my goal from 85 to 95 books in a year. I may even increase it to 100, but I really do not want to get ahead of myself. School will be starting up again soon, so I just do not want to commit to that. Oh well.

Here are the books I read for the Biannual Bibliothon!
  1. Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat
    • ~ 3 stars
  2. The Ancient Magus Bride Volume 1 by Kore Yamazaki
    • ~ 3 stars
  3. Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood (Persepolis #1) by Marjane Satrapi
    • ~ 3 stars
  4. Paper Princess (Royals #1) by Erin Watt
    • ~ 3 stars
  5. The Mirror and the Maze (The Wrath and the Dawn #1.5) by Renee Ahdieh
    • ~ 3 stars
  6. Save the Date by Morgan Matson
    • ~ 5 stars
  7. Lumberjanes: Beyond Bay Leaf Special #1 by Faith Erin Hicks, Noelle Stevenson, Rosemary Valero-O'Connell, and Shannon Watters
    • ~ 4 stars
  8. Runaways #7 by Kris Anka and Rainbow Rowell
    • ~ 4 stars
  9. Jim Henson's Storyteller: Fairies #1 by Matt Smith and Dan Jackson
    • ~ 3 stars
  10. Persepolis 2: The Story of a Return (Persepolis #2) by Marjane Satrapi
    • ~ 3 stars
+ 81 pages from A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
+ 20 pages from Kidnapped For His Royal Duty by Jane Porter {DNF'd}

- READING CHALLENGES –

1. Group book: The Wicked Deep: I couldn't manage to access an audiobook or ebook to read this. I didn't want to purchase it yet, so it just wasn't read yet.

2. Buddy Read/From someone else's TBR: Kidnapped For His Royal Duty - I tried to read this with Alex. He forced himself through it and read it in one sitting. He hated it. 1 star. I tried to read it, but I couldn't even stomach the first 20 pages. It was just so bad. DNF'd.

3. Try the first chapter of 3 books and pick 1: Captive Prince & Paper Princess - These were just so easy to read. Captive Prince was actually my first book to try. I was going to read my 3 chapters during the first couple hours of the readathon, but it captured my interest right away. I managed to read the first 50 pages before I passed out asleep. The other books didn't really have a chance. I also read Paper Princess in the next couple days. It was just so angsty and wow. The writing for both novels wasn't the best, but I was thoroughly entertained. I'm definitely going to fly through the rest of the series. I will be picking up the other books.

4. Read a book that has been on your TBR for over a year - I didn't exactly complete this challenge. I did read a lot of books from my physical TBR, but they had only been on my TBR for about 6 months. I'm still pretty proud.

5. Read a predicted 5 star read: Save the Date - Oh my gosh. This book was just so well done. I absolutely adore everything Morgan Matson writes. She is just an excellent storyteller. I adore the characters she creates and I love how she focuses on family relationships and family units rather than just on romance. Charlie was absolutely charming and I really really want a sequel. 417 pages was definitely not enough for me. I needed more.

6. Own voices: Persepolis 1 and 2 - Oh my. These graphic novels were so fascinating. I really enjoyed Marjane's story and her narration. Her art style was beautiful and I learned so much from her experiences.

7. Read the last book you bought: The Ancient Magus Bride Vol. 1 - This was super fun. I really enjoy the series in manga form. I'm excited to see where the rest of the story goes.

Number of Challenges Finished: 4/7
Total # of Pages Read: 1,840

Day 1: 220 pages
Day 2: 477 pages
Day 3: 164 pages
Day 4: 188 pages
Day 5: 383 pages
Day 6: 221 pages
Day 7: 187 pages

Happy reading!

{Read-a-Thon TBR} Summer '18 Biannual Bibliothon

Hey, guys!

This next week I plan on reading a ton! Starting today I will be reading for the Biannual Bibliothon. This round of Bibib has some amazing reading challenges that I'm excited to take part in.

- READING CHALLENGES –
1. Group book: THE WICKED DEEP
2. Choose from someone else’s TBR (suggested by @LizzardReads)
3. Try the first chapter of 3 books and pick 1
4. Read a book that has been on your TBR for over a year (suggested by @Swizzlemonster1)
5. Read a predicted 5 star read (suggested by @Shannon23xo)
6. Own voices - different than YOU
7. Read the last book you bought (suggested by @MyBookBehaviour)
Here are the books I've picked and the challenges they correspond with!

Challenge 1: The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw:
I'm still trying to find a copy of this book without purchasing it. I do not currently have a car, so I'm trying not to bug anyone to run me to the library to nab it. So far my audio/ebook search is failing.

Challenge 2: Kidnapped for His Royal Duty by Jane Porter
Alex and I picked this up for $4 the other day and we thought it'd be funny to read sometime. We're hoping to read this in a couple hours on Sunday. I'll keep you guys updated on Instagram.

Challenge 3:
1. The Star Touched Queen by Roshani Chokski (not pictured)
2. Paper Princess by Erin Watt
3. Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat
Okay, I decided to start this challenge around 1am last night and I decided to read the first chapter of Captive Prince first. Y’all, I was hooked. Now this challenge is all out of whack. I know I want to give Paper Princess a go, so that is why it is still on my TBR. I’ve decided that I’m going to wait to read The Star Touched Queen until a different time. So, I’m probably failing this challenge, but I’m hopefully going to read a lot this week. I could finish Captive Prince today.

Challenge 4: A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
Alex and I are planning on reading V.E. Schwab’s Vicious during our short trip to Seattle, Washington. I’ve had ADSOM on my TBR for the longest time, so I’ve decided to try to read this lovely book during the readathon. This is one of the books that I think I’ll be reading for a time, so I may save it for last. I know I’m going to also try to buddy read it with a few girls from my Tome Topple buddy read group as well.

Challenge 5: Save the Date by Morgan Matson
This is also my book club’s book of the month. I’m so excited to read this book. I’m in a major romance/contemporary mood so this is the absolute perfect time to read it.

Challenge 6: Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi and Mattias Ripa
This lovely graphic novel was recommended to me by Mallory and I’m very excited to read this book. I’m really excited to get into this book.

Challenge 7: The Ancient Magus Bride Volume 1 by Kore Yamazaki

I picked this up on my last trip to Half Priced Books with Alex. I’m currently watching this anime series online and I’m really enjoying it. I’m excited to see how the books differ from the anime and vise versa. Manga novels are always a blast to read.

I will be doing mini vlogs on my Instagram stories. I'm going to keep those videos and pictures in my Read-A-Thon highlights. Keep an eye out for those!

Happy reading, guys!

Biannual Bibliothon 2016 Wrap Up

Hey, guys!

      This past week, seven lovely BookTubers hosted the Biannual Bibliothon on YouTube and Twitter. There were a bunch of videos and reading challenges that the participants had to complete and you have to read 7 books overall. This past week has been pretty busy, but I did manage to read 3 books. I also read half of The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan and I plan on finishing it during the Cram-A-Thon.

  • Hopeless by Colleen Hoover (via Kindle/Kindle audio)
  • The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson (Hardback)
  • The Good Braider by Terry Farish (Paperback)

Sunday: To be honest, I had already started The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson, but I had only gotten about 50 pages out of 519 pages, so that wasn't a big deal. I was getting into a slump, so I started this book. I didn't finish it, but I got 50 pages in on Saturday. On Sunday, I was working on some homemade bookmarks to send to the giveaway winner, Kaitlyn (she's actually a personal friend of mine, so we were laughing at how ironic it was.) I decided to make some bookmarks to send to giveaway winners. I was originally watching Full Metal Alchemist on Netflix, but as I was listening and barely watching I realized that I could listen to my Kindle! So I got out my Kindle, Etienne, and started listening to Hopeless by Colleen Hoover. I managed to listen and read the first 95% of it and I fell asleep reading it.

Monday: I finished the last 5% of Hopeless by Colleen Hoover and went back to The Unexpected Everything. My day was booked! I went to a birthday party for the majority of the day and then ended up going out to eat with my family for the 4th of July. Then we went home and I read about 200 pages or TUE I stayed up until 2 A.M. reading. I still wasn't done with TUE, though.

15717943

Tuesday: I woke up around 11:30...yeah I know...I stayed up until 2! Anyway, I got up ate lunch, read while I ate and then went out on some errands with my mom. We ended up going to the two Goodwills in town...I bought 7 books... Anyway, around 10P.M., I participated in a few Twitter sprints and finished The Unexpected Everything and started The Good Braider by Terry Farish. I got about 53% through and fell asleep.

17838528

Wednesday: When I woke up on Wednesday, I read about 20 pages and then I was busy the rest of the day. Around 11:15 I took part in a couple twitter sprints, finished The Good Braider, and read until I fell asleep. During the sprints, I read about 30 pages in The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan.

18476097

Thursday: I didn't read much, but I did get a couple more chapters into The Hidden Oracle. I also added a new page to the blog. I added a new feature page to allow you, the readers, to know a bit more about those who guest review for me. {click here} to check it out!

Friday: Friday, I didn't get as much reading done, but I got about a third of the way through The Hidden Oracle and a lot of stuff done for the blog.

Saturday: On Saturday, my family and I went on a little road trip/shopping excursion. The main reason we went, though, was because we had a huge bag of books to sell to Half Price Books. We had never been, so we checked out the store as well. I didn't spend as much time as I would have liked there, but it was a pretty fun time. I bought 4 books and read a good chunk of The Hidden Oracle. I also read a bit of my book before I went to bed. I plan on finishing The Hidden Oracle sooner rather than later. (I sold my copy of The Good Braider).

I managed to complete all but one challenge for the BiBib read-a-thon. Some are doubled up, but whatever.

Challenge 1: the group book - The Unexpected Everything
Challenge 2: wild card -- any of these books
Challenge 3: host recommendation
Challenge 4: a book with your favorite mythical creature -- The Hidden Oracle
Challenge 5: a book you've been putting off -- The Good Braider
Challenge 6: read a new author -- The Good Braider
Challenge 7: different format -- Hopeless [ebook/audio]

In the next couple of weeks, there will be a couple more read-a-thons that I'll be taking part of (the Cram-a-thon & BookTube-a-thon) so keep an eye out for my tbr's and wrap ups!

Don't forget to check out the LivTheBookClub read-along too! We're reading Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo! Click {here} to join!

Happy reading!

July TBR:

      Since I've bought/received 21 books this past month, I've definitely needed to read more! I've become so distracted by Netflix lately...it's awful! I plan on participating in the Biannual Bibliothon!

The Biannual Bibliothon is hosted by a group of BookTubers and during the readathon, you create a TBR that revolves around the group of challenges that the hosts create. This time, there are 7 challenges:

1. Read The Group Book - The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson
2. Free Choice/ Wild Card Book
3.Read a Book Off of the Host’s List of Recommendations

-Momo’s Choice - The Clockwork Scarab by Colleen Gleason: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

-Selena’s Choice - Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9...

-Kelly’s Choice - Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

-Red’s Choice – Sorta Like a Rockstar by Matthew Quick: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...

-Emma’s Choice - More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

-Meagan’s Choice - The Archived by Victoria Schwab: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

-Kassie’s Choice – Abarat by Clive Barker: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7...

4. Read a Book With Your Favorite Mythical Creature
5. Read a Book You’ve Been Putting Off Picking Up
6. Read a Book from an Author You’ve Never Read Before
7. Read a Book in a Different Format than You Usually Read

      There are also video challenges, but because I do not have a camera, I cannot complete those challenges this year. If you'd like to check out those challenges, then I recommend that you check out the Biannual Bibliothon's YouTube channel: {click here}.

The read-a-thon starts on July 3rd and ends on the 9th. Books can be doubled up for challenges, but cannot be used three times.

      This year, it took a little bit of time for me to develop a decent TBR. Like Caz from LittleBookOwl on YouTube, I managed to chose a few chunky books for my TBR...I'm not proud, but I am excited to read this batch of books. I know I won't read all of them, but I've been planning to read them anyway so I might as well plan this out. ;)

Here are the books I plan on reading that week!

Challenge 1: Obviously, I had to choose The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson. I just got it in the mail, and I'm so excited to read it. I've been waiting forever to read it.

Challenge 2: This will be optional because any of the books mentioned could be used for this challenge, but I think I'm going to try to read The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.

Challenge 3: I can't fufill this challenge because I do not own any of these books, but I have read 2/6 of these books. I've read Starcrossed by Josephine Angellini my freshman year and I've read Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover last year.

Challenge 4: For this challenge, I chose The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan. I'm not sure what creatures this book has in it, but I love every creature that Rick features in his books.

Challenge 5: For this challenge I chose The Good Braider by Terry Farish. I've been meaning to read it for over a year, and I'm finally going to read it.

Challenge 6: The Good Braider will also be for this challenge because I've never read any of Terry Farish's books before.

Challenge 7: For this challenge, I'm going to read Hopeless by Colleen Hoover. Colleen recently announced a sale for a couple of her books and I had a bit of money left on my Amazon account, so I bought the ebook version of Hopeless for Etienne, my Kindle.

~~~
For the rest of the month, I've planned to read the rest of the review books that have been sent to me and to read some books that I've been dying to read. Here is the complete list of books that I want to read:
  1. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton*
  2. The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson*
  3. The Good Braider by Terry Farish*
  4. Hopeless by Colleen Hoover*
  5. The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan*
Books I Have To Read
I know this TBR is pretty ambitious, but I'm so excited to read these books.
      This month my friend Julia and I were planning on buddy reading The Good Braider and Six of Crows. I've never buddy read anything with anyone before, so I'm pretty excited to read these with Julia. I don't think we'll be reading a specific amount of pages (or follow along with each other), but I think we'll just be reading it at the same time. I'm really excited to do this.
If you'd like to keep up with what I'm currently reading, then follow me or friend me on Goodreads! All of my social media links are down below!
Comment down below what you plan on reading this month!
Happy reading everyone!
