Goodreads synopsis:

MARE BARROW'S WORLD IS DIVIDED BY BLOOD—those with red and those with silver. Mare and her family are lowly Reds, destined to serve the Silver elite whose supernatural abilities make them nearly gods. Mare steals what she can to help her family survive, but when her best friend is conscripted into the army she gambles everything to win his freedom. A twist of fate leads her to the royal palace itself, where, in front of the king and all his nobles, she discovers a power of her own—an ability she didn't know she had. Except... her blood is Red.

To hide this impossibility, the king forces her into the role of a lost Silver princess and betroths her to one of his own sons. As mare is drawn further into the Silver world, she risks her new position to aid the Scarlet Guard—the leaders of a Red rebellion. Her actions put into motion a deadly and violent dance, pitting prince against prince—and Mare against her own heart.
From debut author Victoria Aveyard comes a lush, vivid fantasy series where loyalty and desire can tear you apart and the only certainty is betrayal.

Hey guys!

I received this book as a gift from my lovely boyfriend for Valentine's Day! I started this book not knowing what I was getting into. I wasn't sure whether it would just be another dystopian or something completely original. I found that this was something really original and really nicely written! Victoria Aveyard's debut this year astounded me with the plot and the characters and the asdkajlalalhs! I got so many feels! SOOO GOOD!!!

Red Queen follows Mare who lives in a world where it's divided by blood, silver and red. The people with silver blood have superpowers and the people with the red are normal and without powers. The Reds are treated like crap and like slaves to the Silvers. The Silvers rule over the Reds and consider themselves royalty and better than the Reds. The Reds are forced to work in lumber camps, on farms, and in factories. They are considered disposable and not important and stuck on the front lines of the Silver's war. One day, Mare discovers something that changes her life forever, she has a superpower but she has red blood. The Silver king forces her to play the role of a lost Silver princess. She also finds herself in the midst of a rebellion.

I didn't really find anything that I didn't like about Red Queen. The only thing I didn't see coming happened towards the end (and I cannot tell you what happened for spoiler reasons). I really loved the character development for Mare, and I loved learning all of the Silver's many abilities. I need to make a list of the abilities listed sometime. :D Red Queen was a dark and twisted high fantasy book that I absolutely loved. It reminded me of the X-Men, Cinderella, and kind of the Hunger Games.

My Favorite Character: Mare
My Least Favorite Character: The Queen

Happy reading!
