Real Neat Blog Award!

real neat blog award
Hey, guys!

The lovely Carlisa from Confessions of Carlisa for this award a few days ago, and I was so surprised to be nominated. Thank you Carlisa for tagging and nominating me! Don't forget to check out her awesome blog! She writes some really lovely reviews and produces some really awesome content!

Here are the rules:

1. Acknowledge the blogger who nominated you. (DONE!)
2. Answer the seven questions.
3. Frame seven questions for your nominees.
4. Nominate seven deserving bloggers for the award.

1. Would you rather be a princess or a pirate? Why?!
To be honest, I would love to be a princess. Not one of those prissy and lazy princesses, but I would really love to be one of those active princesses who secretly train to become a knight (or just have the skills to protect herself). Basically, I want to be a badass princess.

2. Let’s continue with the royalty bit for a second: Where would you put your castle if you had one? Mountains, desert, coast, space, etc?! The sky’s the limit for answers on this one!
The coast actually sounds really great right now. I love the ocean, and because I live in Indiana, I don't get to go to the ocean often. I've been missing the ocean for a while now, so I really want to go again... The ocean is so beautiful and peaceful.
3. What is a decorative feature of your castle? A lava moat? Peacocks in abundance? Singing mermaids? I WANT A FANTASTICAL IMAGE EVOKED.
Oh man! That is so hard! I actually love the idea of mermaids, but I also really like the idea of a huge and beautiful garden full of enormous flowers and plants. I imagine really cool gazebos and beautiful areas to read and chill...I'll also have a huge library in my castle.

4. Okay, so based on where you put your castle in question 2, who (or what) is your sidekick?
My sidekick? Well, I'm by the ocean..The first thing that comes to mind is Flounder from The Little Mermaid...but that wouldn't work! Um...maybe a turtle?

5. You’re the hero of the story (this can be an entirely new story or the same one as the previous three questions). Who is the villain you defeated and how did you defeat it?
Oooh, the villain? Hmm. I would love to defeat an evil wizard who is trying to steal magical texts from my massive library. H
e's a young wizard who is possessed by an evil ghost who is trying to get revenge on my magical mother who saved the kingdom with her amazing kindness and intelligence and badassery.

6. Referencing the same story as #5. Are you involved in the loveliest of romances or are you fighting the most epic of battles?
Maybe, but it would depend on the kingdom's political situation. If the wizard/evil ghost has screwed up my kingdom, then I don't have time for a guy until I fix it.

7. OH NO THERE IS A TEENY-TINY ASTEROID ZOOMING TOWARDS EARTH AND IT IS HEADED STRAIGHT FOR YOUR HOUSE. Luckily all your valuables/loved ones/pets are safe in the front yard. YOUR BOOKS ARE NOT. Hurry and grab the ones that mean the most to you!! What did you grab?
Shoot! Why? Oh no! Uhhh...I'd have to pick my Harry Potter books, Fangirl, The Selection series, and A Court of Thorns & Roses and A Court of Mist & Fury....

So those are the questions!

I nominate:
~Maddie and Bee of Heart Full Of Books!
~Jessica and Stacy of Chapter Chicks!
~Chelsie of Book Addiction 101!
~Sophie from Seamless Reader
~Kristina from Gone Pecan

Thanks again for tagging me Carlisa! Ummm...If you were tagged, then you can answer the same questions, because these questions were really fun and I'm really lazy and uninspired right now. :D

Happy reading everyone!

May Wrap-Up 2015

May 2015 Wrap-Up!!!

Hey guys!

So, apparently May was a really great reading month...i READ 11 BOOKS AGAIN! This really surprised me because throughout the whole month I was preparing for finals and finishing up my junior year in high school. I guess the extra hour of reading before bed and reading to wind down really helped...and on top of that guys (drum roll) I MADE ALL A'S AND B'S YAY! I also got to read a lot of amazing books...and 1 kind of bad book...to be honest I couldn't even finish the last 100 pages..but I'll have a review for that up around Tuesday or Wednesday. Also! I'm taking Trigonometry this June for 4 weeks but it shouldn't stop me from blogging.
Comment down below what you're doing this summer and if you plan on reading much this summer :)

Goodreads synopsis:

A portrait of the Jazz Age in all of its decadence and excess, The Great Gatsby captured the spirit of the author's generation and earned itself a permanent place in American mythology. Self-made, self-invented millionaire Jay Gatsby embodies some of Fitzgerald's--and his country's--most abiding obsessions: money, ambition, greed, and the promise of new beginnings. "Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgiastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter--tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther.... And one fine morning--"Gatsby's rise to glory and eventual fall from grace becomes a kind of cautionary tale about the American Dream.

It's also a love story, of sorts, the narrative of Gatsby's quixotic passion for Daisy Buchanan. The pair meet five years before the novel begins, when Daisy is a legendary young Louisville beauty and Gatsby an impoverished officer. They fall in love, but while Gatsby serves overseas, Daisy marries the brutal, bullying, but extremely rich Tom Buchanan. After the war, Gatsby devotes himself blindly to the pursuit of wealth by whatever means--and to the pursuit of Daisy, which amounts to the same thing. "Her voice is full of money," Gatsby says admiringly. His millions made, Gatsby buys a mansion across Long Island Sound from Daisy's patrician East Egg address, throws lavish parties, and waits for her to appear. When she does, events unfold with detached, cynical neighbor Nick Carraway acting as chorus throughout.

Hey guys!

Honestly, I had to read this for my English class and I didn't like it as much as I thought it would. The beginning was dry but the end was fantastic! I honestly had to force myself to read the first 4 chapters, but once it hit chapter 5 it was amazing! The first four chapters were so descriptive and just all around boring. Also, the way F. Scott Fitzgerald writes isn't my favorite writing style. Oh!

I'm not sure what to think of Daisy yet...did she truly love Gatsby or was she just using him? Comment down below what you think! I also found that Gatsby was overly hopeful that Daisy would dump her husband for himself even after she said "rich girls don't marry poor boys"...which honestly is such a petty and awful thing to say...if someone ever said that to me I'd be bawling my eyes out...and Gatsby didn't cry...Daisy did...which gave me the inclination that she either was regretting not waiting for Gatsby or she was completely and utterly insane...I'm thinking a mix of the two...I keep wondering what Fitzgerald was thinking when he wrote his novel and what he was trying to express when writing this love polygon in the 1920's... Daisy is such a petty little rich girl who used lonely boys and broke their hearts...I'm not positive that that Daisy loves Gatsby, but I kind of hate Tom and wanted Daisy and Gatsby to be together but....the ending happened.

Here's the polygon...

Gatsby ----> Daisy = Tom
                                 /
                                /
                              Myrtle = George

It's kind of a lightening shape haha...

Over all this book wasn't the worst thing that I've read for school, and I recommend that you read it if you enjoy reading the classics. If you also enjoy the 1920's culture with flappers and the Golden Age, you will love this book.

Until next time guys!

Weekend Reads [5/22 ~ 5/25]

Weekend Reads [5/22 ~ 5/25]

Hey guys!

I figured I needed to post another weekend reads because I've barely had any time to read at all this past week! School and finals have completely consumed my reading time! Just yesterday, I finally finished The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald for school, and I realized I hadn't read much of anything this week! A review of The Great Gatsby will be put up tomorrow or on Monday.

I was going to post this yesterday, but I had a school dance to go to and I had homework and studying...and I didn't get home until about 1 A.M. (my mamaw and mom knew though so it was ok :D).I plan on reading/finishing All The Bright Things by Jennifer Niven this 3-day-weekend and get some studying done for finals. :)

Here is my reading wishlist for this weekend and for these next couple weeks. I may not post or read much at all this week because of finals, but I will do the best I can! I'm working on getting almost all A's and 1 B (Algebra 2 is killing me this semester :( )
