Goodreads synopsis:
When the three Grace children -- Mallory, Jared, and Simon -- and their mom move into Aunt Lucinda's old house, readers know there's magic afoot. The kids uncover a nest of assembled junk, and on a visit to the secret library via the dumbwaiter, Jared finds a note describing "my secret to all mankind." After a few mysterious pranks that get blamed on Jared, the boy finally digs up the real prize: Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You. Fortunately enough, the kids meet one of the critters listed in the guide -- a brownie named Thimbletack -- who makes it all "real" and helps provide the book's suspenseful conclusion: "'Throw the book away, toss it in a fire. If you do not heed, you will draw their ire.'"

Hey guys!
So the Goodreads synopsis basically sums up the entire book... So there's nothing I can do to summarize it haha....
So this was really cute! I really liked the story...well it was the beginning of a story..This was 107 pages so it basically just the first couple chapters of what could be a average sized book. I've seen the movie adaptation that these books were made into and from reading the first installment, the movie hits it right on the dot. I really want to read the next 4 books and the rest of the series/spinoffs. Take in mind, that this is a middle grade series and the dialogue is really juvenile writing style, but it's super cute and totally worth the read. Readers of fantasy and magical stories will love this book and most likely the series!
Sorry this is so short but the book was short that the synopsis explained the plot and there wasn't much I could say except that it was really cute and totally worth the read.
Enjoy guys!
Olivia
