Goodreads synopsis:

Theodore Finch is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him.

Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister’s recent death.

When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it’s unclear who saves whom. And when they pair up on a project to discover the “natural wonders” of their state, both Finch and Violet make more important discoveries: It’s only with Violet that Finch can be himself—a weird, funny, live-out-loud guy who’s not such a freak after all. And it’s only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them. But as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink.

Hey guys!

This story is about Violet and Finch. Finch is facinated by death and different ways that he could die. But each time that he tries to end his life something good stops him from taking his life. Violet is depressed. Violet's sister, Eleanor, had gotten into a car wreck and died in the process. Violet is counting down the days until she can leave her hometown and go to college. Violet and Finch meet in an odd way, they meet on the ledge of the bell tower, and its unclear whether Violet saves Finch or vise versa. The odd duo pair up on a school project which requires that they "wander" the natural wonders of Indiana. And as the synopsis says, "t’s only with Violet that Finch can be himself—a weird, funny, live-out-loud guy who’s not such a freak after all. And it’s only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them. But as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink." This book was heart breaking and will make you think about important issues involving grief, death, and life.

THERE MAY OR MAY NOT BE SPOILERS IN THIS PART OF THE REVIEW!

So...I borrowed this from my best friend Courtney and she was an absolute mess..and then her mom was a mess...BUT I WASN'T A MESS! WHY DIDN'T I CRY?!?! I really loved this book, but I had a couple little qualms involving the end of the book. Towards the end Violet kind of just let Finch be lost and she went ahead and went on a date with the Ryan guy and KISSED HIM! WHY GIRL WHY! FINCH IS PERFECT FOR YOU! Also...she ignored his rock tapping and his little hints that he gave her...it's as if she just decides that she's just going to do as little as possible to find the guy she like! I mean come on! BUT! Finch didn't do much either...He's so cryptic and frustrating when it comes to where he's going. All Violet is trying to do is trying to help him...

I loved this book! It's just that the personalities were a bit aggravating towards the end...I loved that it took place in my home-state too! So amazing! To be honest I hadn't really heard of a lot of the places that V & F went to so I'm going to have to research those places and see if they're real...I may even go on a road trip to find some of them! I also loved that Jennifer Niven mentioned my home town! I find that amazing!

This book captivated me from start to finish with it's flowing story line and engaging characters. The way J. Niven writes is flowing and beautiful and this story will stick with you forever.

If You Love _____ You Will Love All The Bright Places!

I hope you guys pick this up and enjoy it!

Until next time!
