The Goodreads synopsis:

Alexa Hollen is a fighter. Forced to disguise herself as a boy and serve in the king's army, Alex uses her quick wit and fierce sword-fighting skills to earn a spot on the elite prince's guard. But when a powerful sorcerer sneaks into the palace in the dead of night, even Alex, who is virtually unbeatable, can't prevent him from abducting her, her fellow guard and friend Rylan, and Prince Damian, taking them through the treacherous wilds of the jungle and deep into enemy territory.

The longer Alex is held captive with both Rylan and the prince, the more she realizes that she is not the only one who has been keeping dangerous secrets. And suddenly, after her own secret is revealed, Alex finds herself confronted with two men vying for her heart: the safe and steady Rylan, who has always cared for her, and the dark, intriguing Damian. With hidden foes lurking around every corner, is Alex strong enough to save herself and the kingdom she's sworn to protect?

Hey guys!

So I just finished this book around 6 or 7 this afternoon and I was quite satisfied. This book is about a girl who dresses like a boy. That's basically the premise. OK OK I'll go into depth. Alexa...Alex...is in the Crown Princes guard and she's the best fighter in the group, but of course Alexa goes as Alex because if everyone knew she was a girl she would be sent either to the dungeon and die or she'd be sent to the breeding house...yeah the breeding house. The king is basically a tyrannical, perverse psycho murderer.. And these two kingdoms/countries, Antion and Blevon are battling in a war....Basically this story is about a girl trying to defeat a sorcerer and learn to be herself and try to find love.

When I picked up this book I was hoping it was going to be like the Alana books by Tamora Pierce...you know kick-butt action, a kick-butt heroine who doesn't let a guy get in the way of her greatness.

*SPOILERS IN THE NEXT PARAGRAPH*

What I found was a very good book, but it wasn't what I expected it to be. Alex(a) is such a kick butt character but she lets her emotions get in the way of her achieving greatness. Don't get me wrong, she can't let go of all of her emotion but there was so much blushing and racing of the heart..I mean she totally let her girly emotions get in the way of her brain. Kudos to her for killing Iker and saving the kingdom..also kudos for her for slowing down her relationship with Damion. #TeamDamion I think she should have stayed with him tho and not let him go. He should also learn to share what's going on so she's not in the dark. Hopefully those character changes will happen in Ignite. I look forward to reading Ignite in the near future.

I would totally buy these book...you know if I had money..haha (sad face)
Over all i rate this book about 4 to 4 & 1/2 stars out of 5 stars.

#TeamDamion

Until later guys!
