Hey guys!

      If you know me or follow me on any of my social media platforms, you would have noticed my deep love for Dan and Phil, DanIsNotOnFire & AmazingPhil on YouTube, and how excited I have been for TABINOF. Dan & Phil have been in the U.S. for a couple of weeks now, and I hadn't read TABINOF completely through. My sister received the book when we turned 18 in October, and she received a signed copy! Anyway, I just didn't have the time to read the book all the way through, and I guess I just didn't get to it once I got the time. One day, I was hanging out with the high school librarian during my study hall and we were talking about the new books that would be placed in the library this summer, and TABINOF was one of them. I totally geeked out, and I just sat in her office...on the floor... and read the bits that I hadn't read before. I mean I skimmed some of it because I didn't want to read it all in one go because it's absolute gold! I don't want to ruin it! 

      Dan and Phil are just so funny! Reading TABINOF was like having one of their videos in your head. I could hear their voices in my head (Dan's laugh and Phil's giggle too!) and it was just such a fantastic experience! Their little quizzes and games and pages based on the major events that had occurred within the Phandom...hilarious and kind of sad...they could make you a bit nostalgic about a few...yeah..

     This book screamed "TUMBLR" and it screamed "Dan and Phil"...I have never read anything like this, and it was so fun to read. I actually kind of think this type of set up is really genius. Dan and Phil are really really intelligent and all of their content is really original and real. When my sister and I watch their videos, there is never a time where we do not laugh or smile. The same goes with their book! Hilarious and original! Their personal stories weren't forced or potentially fake like other autobiographies, but they were equally embarrassing and hilarious and very Phan. Their fanfiction (which was recreated with fanart on their channels) was so original and hilarious too. I loved reading it again. 

I highly recommend this book and their videos!

Hey guys!

      My mom & her boyfriend bought me this beautiful book for Christmas, and I was so excited to get it. I've been really intrigued and interested to read it ever since I had heard about it on some of my favorite BookTuber's channels. The book was described as beautifully written and really interesting. It was also compared to the latest fairytale retellings that had been published in 2015, such as The Wrath & the Dawn, A Court Of Thorns & Roses, and Legacy of Kings, two of which I have read and loved. I was really excited to read this book, not just because it's a retelling, but it's a retelling of A Thousand & One Nights just like The Wrath & the Dawn. Anyway, here's my review!

      There are so many things that I love about this book: the characters, the magic, the setting, the plot, the language, and how original it is. The original tale describes a king who marries women, but within a few days ends up killing her; and a young girl who sacrifices herself and ends up marrying the king, but saves herself by creating fantastical tales. A Thousand Nights is the same in those respects, but it's actually really really different compared to the original. The magic aspects to this story are really interesting, and nothing like I've read before. The characters were very diverse and very beautifully written, the one weird thing about this book was that none of the characters had actual names. That one thing kind of caused me to feel as if I couldn't connect with the characters as much as I had wished to. I also wished that there was one other perspective that I could have read in the book. I wish there was more of Lo-Melkhiin's perspective...people who have read the book will understand. One of the main reasons that I loved this book was because of the main themes. The "love" and "family" themes were so very important in this book, and every action and decision that the heroine makes is based of what she thinks will keep not only herself safe, but her family in the desert as well.

      This book really does feel like a story that you would hear around a camp fire, or reading a huge book of fairy tales. This story was just so beautiful, so diverse, so original, and so wonderfully written. I hope that E.K. Johnston writes more fantasy and/or more fairy tale retellings. She has fantastic writing style, and I really cannot wait to see what she releases next into the YA world.

Hey guys!

       Opal is the 3rd book in the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. The series follows Katy as she discovers that her next door neighbor is an alien. Daemon is a stab-worthy and sarcastic guy. He and Katy are always at each other's throats. Aaaand then Daemon saves her life and she's marked. Katy is swept up in alien drama that could affect her forever. In the fourth book in the Lux series Katy and Daemon are discovering new leads concerning the Luxen species and how the world and the enemy could affect them. 

      I really love Jennifer L. Armentrout's writing, but I think that I was getting a little sick of the Lux series after 3 books. I know that when I get back into the series that I will adore it, but at this time. I'm not in the mood. I love Jennifer's characters. I love how Katy and Daemon act around each other...they drive each other nuts, and I find it really fun and really real to read about their hilarious relationship. Towards the end I loved how Dee and Katy's relationship was being mended. The character development throughout this book was really nice, and I can't wait to see what happens in the next couple books. The goal that they were pursuing throughout the book didn't happen until 30 or 40 pages towards the end, which was kind of a let down. I could tell what was going to happen at the end, but I liked the way it was done. The cliffhanger was really intense, and I really liked it. Overall, this series might be kind of drawn out. Hopefully this series isn't a let down.

December 2015 Wrap-Up

Hey guys!

      I'm posting this early because I've got some New Years plans, so if I do manage to read another book in the next couple of days, then I will include it in my January Wrap Up. I've read 10 books so far this month, and I'd say I've read some pretty great books this month. This month has been so busy with finals, Christmas festivities, and family. I hope that your Christmas and holiday season has been lovely and full of joy and love and fun. I hope that you've had a great December over all.

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

To start out my month, I finished up the Hunger Games trilogy. Even though Mockingjay is not my favorite in the trilogy, Suzanne really does know how to finish off with a bang. This not only gave me all of the feels, and made me depressed at the end. It has been discussed on book blogs and BookTube about how Mockingjay was a bit of a let down compared to the previous books in the trilogy. I actually agree. I found the middle of Mockingjay to lack the constant action that the other two did. It was a little boring compared to The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, but it was still extremely good, and a good conclusion to the trilogy.

My best friend Courtney recommended this book to me when I needed a sad and depressing book to read. This book was really depressing, but I didn't enjoy it as much as she or some of my friends said I would. I felt it to be lacking the quality that made it something really amazing. This book was OK, but it wasn't anything special to me.

The One-Of-A-Kind Cat Book by Ciye Cho

This book has the potential to be something really awesome, but I didn't like it much at all. I mean it's a picture book or a graphic novel, but it didn't have any plot, and the little stories in it weren't very compelling.

This is one of my favorite December reads, and when I was reading it it gave me all of the feels. This is one of those illness books, but I wouldn't consider it to be cliche or anything. I really liked how Shannon writes and I like how she developed her characters throughout the story. If you like 
, or John Green's writing you will probably like this.

Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison

I had my problems with this book. I found it to be entertaining, but the characters lacked any kind of character. The main character didn't have any self respect, and she was so self absorbed and petty. I couldn't stand her. This book was OK, but not anything to get worked up over.

Sandry's Book by Tamora Pierce

I really love Tamora Pierce's writing. Her writing is so magical and fun. Her characters are so diverse, and you love them right off the bat. The magic system that she's created is so interesting and cool. I really love the characters of this quartet, but I really love Tamora Pierce's Song of the Lioness quartet more. Compared to the Alanna quartet, The Circle of Magic quartet isn't as good, but it's still really great.

I read this in December of 2014, and I decided to reread it this month so that I could continue on with the series. I really enjoyed Obsidian the second time, but I didn't enjoy Onyx as much as I did the first time. I kind of got slump-y half way through, and lost interest a little bit. Maybe it was just because I was busy with Christmas. I don't know.

I felt the same way with Opal as I did with Onyx. I felt like the story got kind of predictable and the characters didn't really show any kind of growth. I do want to know what happens next, but I can't bring myself to read the fourth and fifth book right away. I do want to finish the series and figure out what's going to happen, but it's not my top priority.

This is probably my favorite read of December. I got this book from my mom and her boyfriend for Christmas, and I started it right away. I really loved it. It's a retelling of A Thousand & One Nights, but it's not a normal retelling of the story. E.K. Johnston is such a good writer. Her writer is really poetic and beautiful. I cannot wait to read her next YA book.
